W-9 or 1099 Form for US-Based Entrepreneurs

US-based Creators have specific tax requirements. Here's what Ocus handles and what you're responsible for.

W-9 — required from you

Submit a completed W-9 during onboarding. It's required before any payment can be processed. Need help submitting it → contact Support.

1099 — Ocus does not issue one

Ocus is a French company and is not required to report payments through the US tax system. No 1099-MISC or 1099-NEC will be issued.

Your tax responsibilities

You're an independent contractor. You must:

  • Declare your income to the IRS

  • Calculate and pay estimated taxes if required (use Form 1040-ES)

IRS rule: net self-employment earnings of $400 or more → you must file a tax return. This applies even for part-time or secondary income.

Keep your own records: Project confirmations, payment confirmations, monthly invoices, and bank statements.

Tax advice

Ocus can't provide tax guidance. Consult a certified accountant, tax advisor, or the IRS website.
