On The Stage (OTS) now has built-in reminders for patrons who began the checkout process but did not complete their purchase. These automatic reminders help customers to recover a significant portion of lost transctions with no additional work. Cart abandonment reminders are a fully automated component of the OTS suite of automated marketing features, and are automatically enabled for all customers beginning on Sunday, March 16, 2025.
This update consists of two separate reminders, which work in tandem to help recover lost sales.
Pop-up Reminder
If a patron is in the purchase flow but has not completed their transaction, they will receive a pop-up reminder asking them to finish their transaction if any of the following conditions are met:
If the patron attempts to close the widget
If the patron moves their mouse to the address bar
If there is no activity for >60 seconds
In order to maintain a positive user experience, the pop-up will only display once per transaction even if the above conditions are met more than once.
Automated Emails
Patrons who began but did not complete a purchase will now receive an email inviting them to complete their transaction, with a direct link back to the purchase flow.
Best of all, our reminder emails are smart. In order to provide the best possible patron experience, reminder emails will not be sent under the following circumstances:
If patrons who already bought tickets to the same performance in a different transaction
If the performance is sold out
If the performance occurs in <24 hours
If the performance occurred in the past
