Setting Up Donations

Setting up donations is an easy an effective way for your organization to gain some extra support!

Updated this week

There are a couple reasons why you might want to set up donations:

  • drive donors to give by making it easily accessible

  • engage new and former patrons with each show

🎭Noteworthy: If you need donations to be tax deductible, you need to check the box under your Finance, then Plan and Payment Details settings. It will not automatically apply even if you are a non-profit. If you need assistance, please reach out to your Account Manager.

On The Stage makes it easy for your patrons to support your organization through donations. We offer the ability to toggle on a separate Donations tab. This allows your patrons to know exactly where give donations on your website.

👟Walkthrough

Here's how to toggle on this separate tab. Go the Website tab, then Production Site, and click Donate.

Select the show you would like to look by selecting it from the top pulldown menu.

Click the toggle button from Off (grey means disabled) to On (green means enabled).

In the text box, you are able to add a message. For example, this message can tell patrons what their donations will be going towards or just to say thank you.

On the Donate tab, there are red buttons for “$5,” “$10,” and “$20.” A patron can click on one of those to give a donation, or they can enter in a customized donation amount where it says “$ other amount.” The patron clicks the Donate button to add it to their carts, completing the donation. You can also adjust the amounts by clicking here:

🎭 Noteworthy: Patrons can make donations without purchasing a ticket. Donations are not refundable.

🎓 Recap

Setting up donations in On The Stage lets your patrons easily support your organization financially through a dedicated Donate tab on your show’s site. You can toggle the Donations tab on in the Website > Production Site settings, add a customized message explaining how contributions help, and patrons can give preset amounts ($5, $10, $20) or enter a custom amount—even without purchasing a ticket. You can also make donations tax-deductible by enabling the appropriate setting in Finance > Plan and Payment Details.

🚀 Best Practices

  • Add a clear donation message — Use the text box to explain your mission or impact so patrons understand why their support matters.

  • Offer suggested amounts and custom options — Preset values make donating fast, while a custom field lets generous patrons give more or less as they prefer.

  • Activate donations site-wide — Turning the Donations tab on not only boosts visibility, it allows giving even without ticket purchases for extra flexibility.

  • Handle tax-deductibility properly — If gifts should be tax deductible, check the required box in your Finance settings and confirm details with your accountant or account manager to ensure compliance.
