Specifying Production and Performances In Your Widget

Updated this week

Here are some reasons why you might want to specify the productions and performances in your widget:

  • Focus your marketing efforts – Display only the productions or specific dates relevant to your campaign or audience, keeping the buying experience targeted and streamlined.

  • Reduce friction in the purchase process – Direct patrons to exactly the performance they’re interested in, minimizing clicks and confusion.

  • Promote high-priority events – Spotlight certain shows or dates (like opening night or closing weekend) to drive attendance where it matters most.

  • Improve clarity across platforms – Ensure your website or landing page aligns with email, ad, or social messaging by showing only the events being promoted.

👟Walk Through

Just like the previous iteration of the widget, you can select a widget mode (inline or modal). Next, select your widget style. Widget style is the visual presentation of the data on the widget. Previously, this style defaulted to calendar view.

To continue to display the widget as a calendar, choose Calendar. To display the widget as a list of all performances times in chronological order, click List.

When you choose Calendar or List, you can decide whether to display all productions or a single production. If you wish to display all productions - leave this blank. If you wish to display a single production - use the dropdown to choose a production.

Click on Single Performance to select a single performance time for a single production to display.

To select your performance - select a production from the dropdown list.

Next, click on Select an Event to choose a single performance instance.

🎓 Recap Specifying Production and Performances in Your Widget.

This article explains how to specify what your On The Stage ticket widget displays. In the Widget Configuration tab, you can choose whether the widget shows all productions, a single production, or a specific performance date. You can also upload cover images and production descriptions for context. Anytime you change this selection, you’ll need to regenerate and replace the widget embed snippet on your site to reflect the new configuration.

🚀 Best Practices for Configuring Event Scope

  1. 🎯 Choose scope to match your promotion goals
Use all productions for broad seasonal promotion, single production for focused campaigns, or single date when promoting a specific performance.

  2. 🔁 Regenerate and update embeds after each change
Remember to copy the new code snippet and replace the old one on your site whenever you modify the widget’s scope.

  3. 🖼️ Enhance with media and descriptions
Upload engaging images and add a synopsis so patrons have context and feel more connected before purchasing .

  4. 👀 Match context with widget style
If you’re focusing on a single performance, ensure the widget style (Inline or Modal) complements that spotlighted event.

  5. Test in live environment
After embedding and publishing, verify that the correct production or date appears and that ticket inventory loads properly across devices.
