Getting Started with I-9 Center

Fountain’s I-9 Center is your comprehensive solution for frontline workforce I-9 compliance. Equipped with four methods of verification, this platform enables you to streamline the I-9 process while ensuring utmost accuracy.

Unique in its ability, the Fountain I-9 Center allows you to customize verification methods tailored to different new hire segments. Featuring an intuitive admin panel for managing all I-9 workflows, exceptions, and edge cases, you can have complete confidence that your I-9 compliance needs are fully managed. I-9 Center Options

There are two options for using Fountain’s I-9 Center:

  • Option 1: During the application process (PAPI)
    The I-9 is completed as a stage within your hiring workflow, before hire.

  • Option 2: During onboarding
    The I-9 is completed as a task in the Worker Portal after a worker has been hired.

Option 1: During Application (PAPI)

Benefits

  • You can utilize Hire’s CAI functionality to support applicants who may get stuck or have questions.

  • You can add a custom informational video stage before the I-9 stage (see an example HERE).
    This can be especially helpful if you are using the Authorized Representative option for Section 2 completion.

Considerations

  • Requires Fountain Hire to use this option.

  • The I-9 stage should be placed toward the end of your hiring process, as the I-9 must be completed within a specific time frame tied to the worker’s start date.

  • If you have a lengthy application process, adding the I-9 stage—especially alongside a W-4—may increase application fatigue for applicants.

Option 2: During Onboarding

Benefits

  • If you have a lengthy application process, moving the I-9 to onboarding creates a natural break for workers before completing additional paperwork.

  • New hires are often eager to get started, which can lead to faster and more consistent form completion.

Considerations

  • Requires Fountain Onboard to use this option.
