The pre-qualification process is the first step in the solar loan application. It allows customers to see if they are eligible for financing before moving forward with a full application.
How Pre-qualification Works
The pre-qualification step is built into the loan application — it appears on Page 2, the Eligibility Page.
The customer enters some basic information, including:
Full name
Date of birth
Phone number
Stated income
The system performs a soft credit pull (which does not affect the customer’s credit score).
If the customer meets eligibility requirements, they are prequalified and can continue through the remainder of the loan application process.
How to Send a Customer a Link to Apply
To begin a new project and start the pre-qualification process, you will need to send the customer an application link.
Step 1: Select Project Type
From the loan calculator
Choose the project type for the referral: Residential, Commercial, or Non-Profit.
Step 2: Enter Project Details
Input the project address and system details in the top section to generate an estimated monthly payment.
You will be able to view the loan terms.
Click “Calculate Payment” to estimate the monthly payment
Step 3: Send the Application Link
Scroll down to the “Send Application Link” section.
Enter the customer’s email address.
Click the “Send Referral Link” button.
The loan amount included in the application will match the system details you entered above.
Step 4: Customer Applies
The customer will receive an email with their unique application link.
Summary
The pre-qualification process happens automatically within the loan application on Page 2.
Customers provide basic info, and the system performs a soft credit pull.
If approved, they are prequalified and can continue the full application.
Installers initiate this process by sending the customer a referral link to apply.
