How Homeowners Can Temporarily Lift a UCC to Refinance Their Home
Installer Guidance
When a homeowner wants to refinance their home and a Climate First Bank UCC filing is in place for their solar loan, the homeowner must follow the steps below. Installers should use this guidance when speaking with customers.
What the Homeowner Must Do
Step 1: Contact Their New (Refinancing) Bank
The homeowner must notify their new lender that:
There is an existing UCC filing related to their solar loan
A temporary UCC termination is required to proceed with refinancing
Step 2: New Bank Must Submit the Request
The new lender or Customer (not the installer) must email Climate First Bank Loan Operations with the request:
Installers should not submit this request on the homeowner’s behalf.
Step 3: Homeowner Confirms Authorization
Climate First Bank will contact the homeowner to:
Verify the request is valid
Confirm consent to temporarily release the UCC
The process will not move forward without homeowner confirmation
Step 4: Climate First Bank Processes the Request
Once confirmed:
Climate First Bank coordinates directly with the new lender
Temporary UCC termination is completed
UCC is re-filed after refinancing is finalized
Fees (Communicated to the New Lender)
The following fees apply to the temporary UCC termination process:
UCC County Termination Recording Fee: $15
Bank Processing Fee: $50
UCC County Refiling Fee: $80
Total: $145
What Installers Should Tell Homeowners
The homeowner must work directly with their new lender
The new lender must contact Climate First Bank Loan Operations
Installers cannot request, approve, or expedite UCC releases
Climate First Bank will handle all lender-to-lender coordination
Important Reminders
UCC terminations are temporary
This process is only for refinancing purposes
Lack of homeowner authorization will delay or stop the process
