Invite an advocate to your Referral program

When running a referral program, it's important that you are able to recognize your happy customers and actively encourage them to refer you to their friends. That's where inviting or enrolling an "Advocate" (existing customer) to invite their "Friends" (potential customer) through LocalReferrals comes in.

Below we will outline the steps on how to do this.

Step by step

1. Log into your OneLocal account here.

2. Click the LocalReferrals tab.

3. Click Actions from the top right hand corner and select Send Referral Invites from the dropdown menu.

4. Enter the name and email or phone number of your chosen Advocate and press Send Invite

For this example, the Advocate's name is John Smith.

An email or SMS has now been sent to your Advocate to encourage them to refer their friends for a reward.

5. You can view all your Advocates under the Advocates tab, which are filtered into two categories: "Registered" and "Invited". 

  • Registered are people who have signed up for the referral program without the prompting of an email or SMS. 

  • Invited are the people that have been invited to join your referral program.

Below shows our example, John Smith, underneath the Invited tab, as an invitation was sent to him.

Inviting Multiple Advocates

If you want to send out multiple invitations to your clients to become Advocates, you can watch our video tutorial or follow our steps below.

1. Login onto your OneLocal dashboard here.

2. Click on the LocalContacts tab located on the left hand side of your dashboard.

  • To learn how to add a single contact in LocalContacts, click here.

  • To learn how to bulk upload your contacts in LocalContacts, click here.

2. Click the checkbox beside each of the contacts names that you would like to invite.

Or click 0 selected to select all contacts.

3. Click Invite Advocates

4. You can choose from 3 different delivery methods: Email Only, SMS Only or Email & SMS. You will also be asked to select your preference as a back-up in case your selected delivery method fails.

Click Send Referral Invites when you're happy with your selection.

5. You can then view everyone you have invited in your LocalReferrals tab under Invited in Advocates as shown below.
