What is a global section

A global section is an interconnected section that you can reuse across multiple pages, allowing you to make changes to it once and have those changes apply to all instances.

In other words, it offers the convenience of updating a section once and having it automatically reflected on all other pages where it is used.

Popular use cases

Common examples of sections that are often converted to become global are the footer and menu. These sections are typically kept the same on every page where they are added.

However, there are many other cases.

For instance, a call-to-action section with a consistent claim and design. A testimonial section, a product section, or any other sections that you want to reuse.

The flexibility of converting sections to become global allows you to choose any section you desire without limitations.

Creating a global section

Let's start with the fact that you don't create global sections. Instead, you turn existing sections into global ones. To do so, hover over your section and click on the "..." at the top right corner to access the "Convert to global" setting. It looks like this:

Now your section is global. You can find it in the section list under the 'Global Sections' category. It's located right here in the sidebar.

Applying global sections

Now you can apply your sections from the list anywhere within the project. Once added, these sections will be clearly visible, with a darker overlay and an "Edit Global Section" button on top of them.

Editing global sections

You can start editing global sections by clicking on the "Edit Global Section" button. Once you're finished, there's no need to save anything. The changes are saved automatically.

Important: when you update a global section and publish the page it belongs to, those changes will automatically be applied across all instances of the section, regardless of the page they're on.
