Microsoft Teams triggers brings triggers straight to your team, wherever you are. MS Teams triggers pop up as a notification in the MS Teams app, in as many channels as you'd like!

Below is a guide on how to create a brand new trigger, as well as how to generate a MS Teams webhook URL. If you already know how to make a trigger you can skip straight ahead to the latter here!

You need to be an admin user on OneUp in order to create triggers.

Creating a new trigger

  1. Click on Automate in the navigation bar and select Triggers.

  2. click + Create Trigger in the top right of your screen.

  3. Name your Trigger (this name won't appear on the screens, it's just for identifying the triggers on this page).

Creating trigger conditions

  1. Click on the newly created trigger, or the trigger you'd like to edit - this will roll down the trigger settings.

  2. First, click Add Condition on the left, and select Metric.

🚨 Tip: We recommend you only have one condition to meet in order to trigger a celebration, otherwise things can get complicated! 🚨

  3. Fill in the conditions for the trigger in the When... section. This is the metric and quantity that your team members must meet in order to trigger their celebration!

🚨 Tip: When using a placement metric that represents users with commission splits as the metric to fire a trigger for, set the value to 0.1. This allows any split percentage over 0.1/10% to trigger a flash 🚨

Congratulations! You've now set up the When part of the Trigger. Now it's time to generate a MS Teams Webhook URL so you can link this trigger to your Teams channel!

Generating a Webhook URL

You'll need administrator privileges on your Teams account in order to do this.

  1. To get started, click the three dots next to your Team name. A menu will appear; click "Manage Team".

2. Then, click the 'Apps' tab near the top of the window.

3. After clicking 'More apps', you'll be prompted with a list. In the search box, search for 'webhook' and then select 'Incoming Webhook' from the list.

4. Click 'Add to a team'.

5. Next, you'll need to pick which channel you want to send the notification to. After picking a channel, click 'Set up a connector' in the bottom-right.

6. Set the name of the connector as 'OneUp Sales' (this will be the display name that the notifications will be sent from), and then click 'Create'.

7. After clicking create, you'll be shown a webhook URL (You should keep this safe as it cannot be retrieved again after this point, and we'll need it again in a moment). Copy the webhook URL by clicking the copy icon to the right of the URL, and then click 'Done'.

8. The configured channel should immediately receive a message confirming that the connector was added.

Setting Up A MS Teams Trigger Action

Now it's time to bring it all together!

  1. Head back to the trigger configuration page on OneUp and click the name of the trigger you want to add the trigger to. You then need to click Add Action and select Microsoft Teams Notification from the dropdown.

  2. Give the notification a heading, and paste the webhook URL into the corresponding field. If you wish to connect multiple channels, you can do so by repeating the above steps and appending the new URL, separating them by commas.

All you need to do then is press Save Changes!

If you've followed these steps correctly, the next time the trigger gets fired you should receive a notification in the specified Teams channel.
