Overview
Microsoft Teams celebrations bring triggers straight to your team, wherever you are. MS Teams triggers pop up as a notification in the MS Teams app, in as many channels as you'd like!
Below is a guide on how to create a brand new Trigger, as well as how to generate a MS Teams webhook URL. If you already know how to make one, you can skip straight ahead to the second section here!
To complete these steps, by default, you must have admin permissions on both your MS Teams organisation account, and within OneUp.
Creating a new trigger
The first step is to get a Trigger configured within OneUp. To do this, you can follow our handy guide, here!
Once you've set up the When part of the Trigger, come back here to continue the next part of the setup, within Microsoft Teams.
Generating a Webhook URL
You'll need administrator privileges on your Teams account in order to complete the steps below.
To get started, find a channel in your organisation that you'd like to add OneUp's triggers to. Click the '. . .' button next to the channel, and select Workflows:
2. In the new window that appears, you'll be asked what the workflow should do. Select the 'Post to a channel when a webhook request is received' option (you can use the search box at the top if there are many options to choose from).
Select this option once you've found it.
Note: The Post to a chat when a webhook request is received option may not be available depending on your organisation type. For more help, contact your IT admin to permit access to this within MS Teams.
3. On the next page, you'll be asked to give your workflow a name. Use something recognisable (like 'OneUp deal trigger' for example) and click Next.
Also ensure that beneath the name, the correct Microsoft account is being used to create the workflow.
4. The workflow will process and be created. If successful, you should see this window:
Copy the URL generated using the button at the right of the URL box.
The configuration within MS Teams is now completed! The next section goes through the final steps to get the Trigger working using the workflow you just created.
Setting Up A MS Teams Trigger Action
Now it's time to bring it all together!
Head back to the Trigger configuration page on OneUp and click the name of the trigger you want to add the Trigger to. You then need to click Add Action and select Microsoft Teams Notification from the dropdown.
Give the notification a heading. This is the short message that will appear when the trigger is fired. Then, paste the webhook URL into the corresponding field. If you wish to connect multiple channels, you can do so by repeating the above steps and appending the new URL, separating them by commas.
All you need to do then is press Save Changes!
If you've followed these steps correctly, the next time the Trigger gets fired, you should receive a notification in the specified Teams channel.
