Overview
The carriers behind SMS text messaging (the toll-free providers that power text notifications industry-wide) have been tightening their requirements over the past year. These changes affect how businesses register and verify their messaging, including:
Compliance with opt-in policies
A requirement for each business to have its own separate number
To stay ahead of these requirements and prevent future service interruptions, Onfleet is upgrading your account to a dedicated SMS number, a number reserved exclusively for your business.
What this means for you
More reliable delivery | Notifications are sent from a number registered to your business, making delivery more resilient. |
Consistent sender | Recipients see the same number every time you text them, so your messages are recognizably yours. |
No workflow changes | Nothing changes in how you use Onfleet. |
Same recipient experience | Your recipients’ notification experience stays the same. |
How to register
Registration must be completed by an Admin on your account.
Log in to the Onfleet dashboard.
Go to Settings.
Select the Communications tab.
Find the registration option and complete the submission.
What happens after you register
Once your registration is submitted and approved, our team will reach out to confirm your dedicated number is live. You don’t need to do anything for the switchover; it happens automatically.
Frequently asked questions
Why do I need a dedicated SMS number?
SMS carriers now require businesses to register and verify their messaging and to use their own separate number. A dedicated number keeps your account compliant and your notifications flowing.
Who can complete the registration?
Only an Admin on your Onfleet account can complete it. If you aren’t an Admin, contact one on your team.
Where do I find the registration?
In the Onfleet dashboard under Settings > Communications.
Will this change how I or my team use Onfleet?
No. Your workflows, tasks, and notification settings stay the same.
Do I need to do anything after submitting?
No. Once approved, we’ll confirm your dedicated number is live, and the switchover happens without any action from you.
Will my recipients notice a difference?
Their experience stays the same. The main difference is that your texts will consistently come from your own dedicated number
