Use the Administrator Options page in jmc Office to manage student demographic information and decide how to handle both birth sex and gender data elements. While the state of Iowa requires schools to report a student's birth sex, you can choose to continue displaying gender alongside birth sex or turn off the gender field. You can also decide whether to show this information on the main View Student Data page or keep it on a student's "Sensitive" tab, giving your team control over how student data is displayed and managed.

To start, head to File > Administrator Options and click the Sex/Gender Settings link to customize your student information.

Step One: Place a checkmark in the "Gender Data Element Enabled" checkbox to display student gender, or clear the checkmark to hide the gender field.

Step Two: Select "SensitiveTab" or "Top" from the "Sex Data Element Location on View Student Data page" drop-down list to define the location of the birth sex data element.

Step Three: Select "SensitiveTab" or "Top" from the "Gender Data Element Location on View Student Data page" drop-down list to define the location of the gender data element.

Step Four: Click the "Save" button to update the changes to your students' birth sex and/or gender settings.

Helpful Tip: Go to the View Student Data page to review how your selected birth sex and gender settings appear for students, and update any student data as needed.

Fun Fact: The birth sex and gender settings configured on the Administrator Options page will also apply to the New Family Enrollment portal. Families will only be asked to provide gender information if your school has chosen to collect it.
