The "Sensitive" tab on the "View Student Data" page ensures seamless integration of preferred names while maintaining official records. Enter the student’s preferred name in the main section of the page to display it across all jmc portals, while securely storing their official name in the "Sensitive" tab for legal documentation and state reporting. This approach promotes inclusivity while ensuring compliance, making it easy to support every student's identity.

To add a student's preferred name in jmc to a student's record, navigate to the "View Student Data" page in jmc Office.

Step One: Select the student to be edited by entering their name in the "Find" field.

Step Two: Enter the student’s preferred last name, first name, middle name, suffix and/or gender in the appropriate fields to display on all jmc portals and reports.

Step Three: Click the "Save" button to update the preferred name for the selected student.

Step Four: Click the 'Sensitive' tab to access fields related to a student's legal identity.

Step Five: Enter the student’s legal last name, first name, middle name, suffix (if applicable), and birth sex (if applicable) in the corresponding fields to define their legal identity in jmc.

Fun Fact: If the fields on the "Sensitive" tab are left blank, jmc will default to using the information from the main section of the "View Student Data" page as the student's legal identity.

Helpful Tip: Be sure to include both the first and last name on the "Sensitive" tab if the student’s legal name is required for state reporting, instead of the name displayed in the main section of the "View Student Data" page.

Step Six: Click the "Save" button to update the legal identity on the "Sensitive" tab for the selected student.
