Using low lunch account balance notices is an efficient way to remind families when their account balances are getting low, and can even be automated to send out on a schedule! On a low lunch balance notice, you have the option to:

  • Specify the number of days in which the accounts will run low for selecting the recipients of these notices.

  • Specify the minimum dollar amount to be used as a cutoff value for selecting the recipients of these notices.

  • Create a message that will be printed on each notice.

When generating notices using the "Select by: Days" option, the students' lunch transactions will be used to estimate whether their accounts will run low within the specified number of days. Transactions are considered by the following:

  • If a student has at least ten transactions on their lunch account, then that student's average daily lunch expense will be used to determine whether a notice is generated.

  • If a student has fewer than ten but at least one lunch transaction on their account, then a rate of one lunch per day, priced according to the student's current lunch status, will be used to determine whether a notice is generated.

A notice will be generated for a family-based upon the selection criteria:

  • "Select by: Balances": a minimum balance and a minimum reduced balance will be used to determine whether a notice is generated.

  • "Select by: All Accounts": a notice will be generated for all family and student accounts

  • "Select by: Random": a notice will be generated to the family of an individual student.

Low balance notices will be generated according to the specified criteria and include the lunch account balance, all students in the account (including their grade level and building), and a customizable message.
