From a student’s name, grade, and sex to contacts and state-reportable information, all demographic data is accessible on a single page. Whether the information was collected through New Family Enrollment, Online Registration, or other areas of jmc Office—including the Mass Change Fields tool—you can review and update it as needed for each individual student.

Log in to jmc Office at the building level and navigate to the View Student Data page to view and edit student demographic information.

Step One: Enter a name in the "Find" field to begin editing a student's demographic data.

Helpful Tip: Select a grade from the Grade drop-down list to narrow the list of available students. Use the left or right arrow next to the Find field to move to the next or previous student in the selected range.

Step Two: Enter the student’s preferred name in the Last, First, Middle, and Suffix fields to control how the name appears in jmc Office, jmc Family, and jmc Student.

Helpful Tip: If a student’s preferred name, suffix, or sex differs from the information on their birth certificate, enter the legal information on the Sensitive tab of the View Student Data page.

Step Three: Select the student’s sex, grade, advisor, and building from the appropriate drop-down lists to edit basic demographic information.

Step Four: Click the "Save" button to update all changes to the student’s basic demographic information.

Step Five: Click the "General" tab to update additional demographic details such as the student’s birth date, graduation date, jmc Student username and password, email address, cell phone number, and more.

Helpful Tip: Right-click the phone icon next to the "Student Cell Phone" field to set the Message Center language preference and opt in to receiving text, emergency/weather-related, lunch, and general school messages.

Step Six: Click the "Bus" tab to enter bussing information—such as location, description, and bus driver name—for display in the jmc Family and jmc Student portals and to enable messaging by bus route number in Message Center.

Step Seven: Click the "Comments" tab to add comments to a student’s record for office use only or to share with teachers through the jmc Teacher portal.

Step Eight (optional): Click the "Confidential" tab to create student comments that are visible only to jmc Office users with Read Only or Make Changes access to sensitive student information.

Step Nine: Click the "Custom" tab to review or edit responses to custom field questions typically collected during online registration.

Step Ten: Click the "Photo" tab to attach a photo to the student’s record.

Fun Fact: Additional tabs—such as the "Enrollment" tab (Iowa), "MARSS" tab (Minnesota), "Entry" tab, and others—display information used to fulfill state reporting requirements.

Step Eleven: Click the "Save" button to update any information added on the tabs.
