How To Add a Trigger to a Task in a Task Template

Depending on the pricing plan you are on, you may have the option to add triggers to tasks in your task templates. This will significantly help automate your transactions.

Without triggers on the tasks, you'll have to do extra steps to send emails or text. Triggers on tasks even help with adding or removing fields, field sections, and/or templates automatically.

For example, if you have a task to send an email, you would go to the task, find what email template you need based on the description of the task, apply the template, and prepare the email to send.

For a trigger, you would already have the email template applied to the trigger with all of the content including the contact role(s) and file role(s). All you would have to do is inspect the email to make sure everything looks good before sending it. It may not seem like a lot, but if you have a large amount of emails to send each day, the time you save really adds up.

Adding Triggers to Tasks in Task Templates

To add a trigger to a task in a task template, find the template you need, and click on Edit. This will show you all of the different tasks you have in the task template.

Go to the task you want the trigger on, and click on the lightning bolt.

This will open a new center panel where you can start adding your triggers for the task. You can also apply a trigger template if you have one already prepared.

When you click on Add Trigger, you will have an action to choose from and a function to apply. The trigger action will be fired off or queued when a task is completed or when a task is not completed. The function is either sending an email or text, or adding/removing fields, field sections, or templates.

Once you add the trigger, you can start working on building out the function for it. These articles go over each type of function and show what it looks like if the task is completed or not completed.
