Midwest Marketplace End Time Test

Learn how OPENLANE is testing daytime Marketplace expirations to help buyers and sellers connect and complete deals during business hours.

We're testing a new daytime Marketplace expiration time on certain Midwest vehicles to help buyers and sellers connect and work deals when they're already active.

Previously, Day 3 Marketplace listings expired overnight at 12:00 AM CT. During this test, eligible listings in the Midwest will instead expire at 4:00 PM CT.

What is changing?

Marketplace listings included in the test will:

  • Continue to run for three days.

  • Expire at 4:00 PM CT instead of 12:00 AM CT.

  • Display a countdown timer so buyers and sellers can clearly see how much time remains before the listing expires.

Why is OPENLANE testing daytime expirations?

Moving Marketplace expirations to the daytime may create more opportunities for buyers and sellers to connect before a listing ends. By ending listings during business hours, we hope to make it easier to negotiate and complete deals, creating a better overall Marketplace experience.

Who is included in this test?

This limited test applies to select Marketplace sellers and their eligible vehicle listings in the Midwest.

Buyers may see the new 4:00 PM CT expiration time and countdown timer when viewing vehicles included in the test.

Will this change be permanent?

Not yet. This is a limited test that will help us understand how daytime Marketplace endings affect engagement, deal working, and overall Marketplace performance. We'll use what we learn to determine future Marketplace improvements.
