Why am I Losing Points Because an Item is "Too Cold"?

There is one of two things happening here:

  1. In the standard Cold Hold rule, any item that is below 32 ℉ will be considered Not Optimal and will get half points. This is because the Cold Hold Rule is for refrigeration and temps below freezing can be bad for certain types of food, such as produce.

  2. You have a Cold Hold rule applied to a freezer question. Same logic exists, a freezer is usually around 0 degrees and that would cause the cold hold rule to take away points.

Look at the question, and if it is:

  • walk-in or cold hold food related question then the rule is functioning as designed.

  • on a freezer question then you need to check that you have the right rule applied on the checklist question.
