It is easy to turn off Checklist schedules for your locations that are closed on holidays and keep them active for the locations that are open.
Here is how you do it.
First of all, you need to use location filters with your checklists.
If you have a location filter that is already on your checklists you can add one row of logic to the filter.
If you don't use location filters for your checklists, you can create one and apply it to your scheduled checklists very easily.
You create a tag, Open For Holiday.
You apply that tag to every location in your organization that is going to be open for business on the holiday.
You create or add the Open For Holiday tag to your location Filter: And Also Tagged with Open For Holiday.
THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART. ADD THIS TAG THE DAY BEFORE THE HOLIDAY, AND AFTER THE LAST SCHEDULED CHECKLIST FOR THAT DAY.
Wednesday night before Thanksgiving, after your last checklist schedule has been created. You add the Open For Holiday tag to your location filter on your scheduled checklists.
Remember time zones, you need to wait until your furthest west time zone has created the last schedule of the day.
Then on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, Checklist schedules will only be created for the locations that were tagged with Open For Holiday.
THIS IS THE SECOND MOST IMPORTANT PART, YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE OPEN FOR HOLIDAY TAG OFF OF THE LOCATION FILTER THURSDAY NIGHT AFTER THE LAST CHECKLIST SCHEDULE HAS BEEN CREATED. SO THAT ON FRIDAY ALL THE SCHEDULES CREATE NORMALLY.
Also, make sure that when you make a change to a location filter you save the filter, and then open it up again to make sure the results match what you are trying to do. Remember, you won't see any change in filter results until you save it and reopen it.
Remember that you can make any tag you want for this, and use this for every holiday. You just have to remember to tag the locations that are open for that holiday and add the logic the day before and remove it the evening of the holiday.
Here's what these steps look like:
Create an Open For Holiday Tag.
Apply that tag to the locations that are Open For Holiday.
Create or Edit a Location Filter to add the And Also Tagged With Open For Holiday Logic.
You want to add this logic to Location Filters that are already applied to your checklist if they exist, including schedule location filters. If you don't have location filters on your checklists, you will want to create a new one.
This is what it would look like if you create it from scratch.
If you have to add it to an existing filter you will just click the plus sign below the last logical expression.
Before Logic is Added, you can see every location in the results for the filter.
After Logic is added you only see the location that is tagged with Open For Holiday.
REMEMBER, YOU HAVE TO APPLY THIS NEW TAG ON THE NIGHT BEFORE THE HOLIDAY, AFTER THE LAST SCHEDULE OF THE DAY. PAY ATTENTION TO TIME ZONES, IF YOU HAVE STORES IN HAWAII, YOU HAVE TO MAKE THIS CHANGE AFTER THEIR LAST SCHEDULED CHECKLIST.
REMEMBER THAT YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THIS TAG THE NIGHT OF THE HOLIDAY AFTER THE LAST SCHEDULE IS CREATED SO THAT EVERYTHING RETURNS TO NORMAL THE NEXT DAY.
If the Location filter you are altering is already applied to your checklists you are done. If you don't have a location filter on your checklists you will need to create a new one and apply it to the checklist.
