From time to time we invite customers who have eligible electricity accounts to switch to monthly billing. If you’ve just received an SMS inviting you to switch, here’s what’s involved.
Advantages of monthly bills
Monthly bills mean smaller electricity bills more often. This offers a great way to avoid surprises on your quarterly bills.
Available for electricity only
You can only switch to monthly bills if you have a digital or smart meter installed at your electricity supply address. Natural gas and hot water accounts can’t be billed monthly because only basic meters are available for these. More info on digital meters.
Direct debit and monthly bills
If your direct debit has been set up to pay each of your electricity bills in full, you don’t need to make any changes. Your deduction will automatically come out monthly on your bill’s due date.
eBills vs paper bills
Do you currently receive your bills by post? If you’re making the switch to monthly billing it may be a good time to consider changing to ebilling. Concession card holders and those on our hardship program are excluded from paying paper bill fees but for some customers, a fee of $1.75 per paper bill may apply if you get your bills by post. More about paper bill fees.
Concessions and monthly bills
Any concessions or rebates applied to your account will continue as usual.
Changing back to quarterly bills
If you switch to monthly bills but want to change back to quarterly bills, please message one of our energy experts or send us an email.
