Set up ongoing payments

You can set up direct debit to automate payments. We also offer payment plans, with or without direct debit.

Short answer

There are a couple of ways to set up ongoing payments. This article explains how to:

  1. set up a direct debit to automatically pay your bills when due

  2. set up a payment plan to pay smaller amounts more frequently, to average out your energy bill payments

What you can do

Set up a direct debit

  • Electricity, natural gas, and centralised hot water and electricity: Set up direct debit in My Account or the Origin app to automatically pay your bill when it's due

  • All other account types: Contact us and we'll help you set it up

Note: If you want to pay by direct debit for more than one account, you'll need to set it up on each account.

Set up a payment plan

Payment plans are designed to average out your energy costs over a period of time.

We offer a variety of payment plans to suit a range of needs. If you're not familiar with Origin's payment plan options, read our Types of payment plans article to get started. Otherwise, for:

  • electricity and natural gas customers (with no debt on account), set up an ongoing energy use payment plan in My Account or Origin app. . You can pay the payment plan instalment amount when it's due, or set up a direct debit to automatically pay the instalment when due. Check our user guide on how to do it.

  • Electricity and natural gas customers (with debt on account under $2000): If your debt is $2000 or less, you may be eligible to set up payment plan via My Account or Origin app. Check our user guide how on to do it.

  • all other account types, contact us and we'll help you set it up

Note: If you want to set up a payment plan for more than one account, you'll need to set it up on each account.
