Our energy plans are more varied than ever, and we offer all kinds of great features like Everyday Rewards points, home assistance membership, low basic rates, solar feed-in tariffs and more. We call these features ‘plan benefits’. And, depending on the type of energy plan you choose, different benefits may apply.
Whatever you pick, you’ll see your plan name and associated benefits (if applicable) on page 1 of your bill. In Victoria, when we show you the ‘best offer’ box on page 1 (market offers only), you will see your plan info on page 3.
Where's my discount?
First up, most of our generally available energy plans don’t include a discount. But if your energy plan includes a price benefit like a lower rate or a discount, then we’ve already built that amount into your charges. So, when it comes to your bill, you won’t see a discount deducted from your charges.
The charges on your bill will match the charges we sent you in your contract pack, renewal letter or price change letter (whichever’s the most recent) – or log in to My Account and click View plan to take a look.
But wasn’t I getting a discount when I signed up?
When we advertise electricity plans, we’re required by law to compare the plan to a government reference price. In all states except Victoria, this is called the Default Market Offer reference price. In Victoria, it’s the Victorian Default Offer reference price.
When we compare, we show whether a plan is a % more or less than the reference price, or equal to it. We get that this can be a bit confusing – because you’re probably thinking this matches a % off your plan.
What’s important to understand is that these percentages:
are in place to let you compare our prices against the reference price and other energy retailers’ prices, at a specific point in time
do not represent a discount off your bills.
What about my concession or rebate?
Concessions and rebates act differently to energy plan benefits because they apply to your account and not your energy plan. If you’ve added your concession details to your account, we’ll always list the concession or rebate type and amount on page 2 of your bill under ‘Account summary’.
