Renew or change your energy plan

Short answer

If you’re an electricity (including solar) or natural gas customer, you can renew or change your energy plans through My Account or the Origin app. See our video for an overview, and 'What you can do' in this article for instructions.

What you can do

Prepare to compare – know what you’re on now

  1. Log in to My Account or the Origin app

  2. From the dashboard, select View plan. The screen displays details of your current plan, like your supply and usage charges and any benefits that may be included (e.g. Everyday Rewards points collection or solar feed-in-tariffs).

  3. Write down your current usage charges (the amount you pay per MJ or kWh for the energy you use), your supply charges (the daily cost you pay for the supply of energy to your property) and any solar feed-in tariff you receive under your existing plan (if applicable)

Renew after receiving a notification from us

You can renew your plan before it ends through My Account or the Origin App.

Renew through My Account

  1. Log in to My Account

  2. From the Plans and properties menu, select Renew my plan then Get started. The screen summarises the number of plans that are due to end soon and displays new plans you can choose from.

  3. View the details then click Select plan to choose your new plan

  4. Follow the prompts. This also leads you through selecting a second plan if you’re renewing more than one, and to signing up online.

Renew through the Origin app

  1. Log in to the Origin app

  2. Tap More, then under Plans and properties tap Renew my plan

  3. Tap Get started. The Renew your plan screen summarises the number of plans that are due to end soon and displays new plans you can choose from.

  4. View the details then tap Select plan to choose your new plan

  5. Follow the prompts. This also leads you through selecting a second plan if you’re renewing more than one, and to signing up through the Origin app.

Change plans at any time

You can change your plan at any time through the Origin website, My Account or the Origin App. There are no exit fees.

Change plan through the Origin website

  1. Choose the energy types to compare – you’ll see electricity, natural gas and solar options in the one screen

  2. Enter your connection address. The screen displays the energy plans that are available to you.

  3. View the details then click Select plan to choose your new plan

  4. Follow the prompts to sign up online

  5. Repeat this process for each energy plan you’d like to change

Change plan through My Account or the Origin app

  1. Log in to My Account or the Origin App

  2. From the Plans and properties menu, select the Change plan link

  3. Choose the energy types to compare – you’ll see electricity, natural gas and solar options in the one screen

  4. Enter your connection address. The screen displays the energy plans that are available to you.

  5. View the details then click or tap Select plan to choose your new plan

  6. Repeat this process for each energy plan you’d like to change

What happens then?

After you’ve renewed or changed your plan, we will send you a confirmation with all the details.
