Typically it takes the compliance team 2-3 weeks to get you fully cleared, but there are quite a few reasons you may not be cleared- please read below and check if there's anything you can do to speed up your application before contacting us.

My Background Check is pending:
This means that we are currently checking the information you've provided.
We do get quite busy so it's important that when you submit, you are confident that you have ticked everything off that we might need.
That means two documents for each activity that you have listed - submitting with no documents is a guaranteed way that there will be delays in processing your application as this will need to be sent back to you.
I didn't provide any Evidence of Employment:
If your reference contacts us directly to confirm your employment - this would be all we need but this isn't the most reliable or timely way of doing things.
With no reference, we will absolutely need documentation and therefore when you submit - please ensure that you provide at least two documents for each activity to ensure that we can get things cleared off quickly.
My Background Check is Approved but not Cleared:
We are waiting to hear back from your references! We chase them up regularly and will get in touch with you if anything is needed.
I Submitted Everything a Long Time Ago
If it has been a long while since you heard from us, it might be best phoning HMRC on 0300 200 3300 to get your 5 year history.
