1.How do I unlock a bike?
Through a smartphone
Use the Oslo City Bike app to see the location of available bikes at any given moment. This is available on both iPhone and Android.
Go through these simple steps while being close to a station in order to unlock a bike:
See to that the station shown in the app, is the station you're at (if you're placed at another location, check out this guide)
Select the bicycle type by pressing the icon for electric bicycle or manual bicycle.
Press Unlock bike(type)
The app will show you which of the locks you'll receive the bike from
Lift the bicycle out of the station.
2. How do I park a bike ?
When locking a bike there are five steps to go through to make sure the bike gets locked:
Check if the light next to the lock is blinking red before delivering the bike. If it is, it won't lock the bike correctly
If the light next to the lock aren't blinking red, you can use the lock
Put the bike in the lock, and wait for up to 10 seconds.
Wait until the the light next to the lock stops blinking, then try to pull the bike out of the lock
3. Opening hours
The City Bikes are available from 05 am to 01 am.
4. When do I have to return the bike?
You can check your trip duration in the app and find the nearest station to park as well. N.B. Check the applicable rental rules for your product to avoid getting a suspension.
5. What is the age limit?
The age limit is 18 years for both manual and electric bicycle. You can be 15 with authorization from your parents to use the manual bikes.
The city bikes are not customized for children's seats unfortunately.
6. How many bikes can I unlock at the time?
You can only unlock one bike per subscription and only have one subscription per phone number, so the other person you're with will have to buy their own.
You can buy a subscription and create a profile here. You need to be able to receive a text once in order to get the subscription up and running.
7. What happens if I lose the bike while riding?
If your bike gets lost while you are riding, you must immediately contact the customer service center. If the bike has not been parked correctly or left outside one of our stations, and is consequently lost, you are liable for compensation if the bike does not return within 14 days. The compensation claim 5000 NOK for the manual bike and 15000 NOK for the electric bike. This also applies if you unlock a bicycle via the Ruter-app.
