01. What is the Fertility Coach?
Think of Fertility Coach as a science-driven personal trainer in your pocket, offering specific, science-backed recommendations to help improve fertility outcomes.
The Fertility Coach translates complex physiological data captured by the OTO Biosensor into clear, actionable recommendations that support stress management throughout the fertility journey, for both individuals and the practitioners guiding their care.
The OTO Fertility Coach provides actionable insights, guidance, and recommendations tailored to everyones unique physiology, dictated by the daily assessments.
With the OTO Fertility Coach, you can:
Track fertility signals and cycle patterns: Gain insights into your reproductive health and identify your most fertile periods.
Receive personalized guidance: Get activity, lifestyle, and wellness recommendations tailored to your body and fertility goals.
Optimize overall health: Understand how nutrition, exercise, and stress management impact your fertility.
02. The 3-Cycle Program
The Fertility Coach is designed for 3 cycles. Each day, the daily assessment determines an appropriate heart rate zone, and the app generates an activity recommendation to help keep them within it, so effort adjusts to the body's current readiness rather than following a fixed plan.
This means activity guidance is generated automatically and directly from the physiological data, without requiring manual review of each day's recommendation.
1. Foundation Fire-Up
Establishes the patient's baseline. Early assessments calibrate what an appropriate heart rate range looks like for that individual, while the patient builds the daily habit of assessing and following the resulting recommendation.
2. Fuel Your Strength
Builds on that baseline. Assessments continue to guide daily activity intensity, allowing the recommended heart rate zone to progress as the patient's capacity does, without exceeding what that day's readiness supports.
3. Power From Your Heart
Focuses on sustaining and fine tuning the heart rate guided approach, using ongoing assessments to keep activity aligned with readiness as the patient moves toward their fertility goals, giving care teams a consistent view of how a patient is trending across the cycle.
03. Why Low-Intensity Movement Is the Intervention
Activity plan app screenshots
Patients are guided through a structured Activity Plan inside the OTO Life app (e.g., “Foundation Fire-Up,” an 8-week Cycle 1 plan), with weekly targets and mandatory sessions.
Example interventions (activity): - Brisk walk - Light cycling - Easy elliptical - Slow jog at conversational pace
Why it works: - Low-intensity movement increases vagal tone - Boosts nitric oxide - Stabilizes breathing patterns - Does not spike catecholamines (adrenaline)
The science: Zone 1–2 (Z1–Z2) activity consistently increases RMSSD and HF-HRV while lowering sympathetic outflow — in other words, this specific intensity range is what shifts a patient’s autonomic markers in the direction associated with the Preparation and Optimal zones described above.
This is why the guidance to patients is specifically low-intensity, conversational-pace movement — higher intensity activity does not produce the same autonomic nervous system shift, and may work against the intended physiological adaptation.
