Layout Library: Adding Text
Updated over a week ago

It's important that your content captures the attention of your visitors and holds it until the very end. Engaging content is essential for any document, whether it's a job offer, training document or sales presentation. It not only makes your writing more interesting, but also helps convey your message more effectively.

💡 A digital document isn't a magazine, so it's really important that the formatting reflects this. This is where the Layout Library is hugely beneficial, as all text panels and font sizes support best practice for digital viewing.

How to add text to a Layout Library page

It’s easy to add text to a Layout Library page; simply click on the panel, select ‘Edit Content’ and begin typing! Text can also be pasted in, which is recommended if you have a large amount of content to add.

Step 1: Select the panel

Open your Document design and click on the 'Text', 'Story' or 'List' panel that you would like to add text into.

Step 2: Select 'Edit Content'

After you have selected the panel, you will see several options appear in the flyout menu. Find and select the ‘Edit Content’ option.

Step 3: Type or Paste in Text

You can now begin typing in the text that you would like to add to the panel. You can also paste text in, which is recommended if you have a large amount of content to add. When you are finished click ‘Save’ to apply the changes.

💡 If you are pasting in content, ensure it has been entered into Notepad first, then copied and pasted into the Text/Story panel. This will prevent any hidden formatting being copied over, which can cause issues.

Panel size and Layout Library

You will notice that the panel size cannot be altered when using the Layout Library. This is to ensure the Document you create is consistent, professional, and clear to read for the viewer. The page layouts have been designed by our award-winning Creative team and are set to meet best practice guidelines for web viewing.

If you would benefit from having more text available, we would advise exploring the option of adding interactivity, such as a More Information pop-up box. This is a clickable area that your reader can select to view further information. Using this option will make your Document more engaging, easier to digest and help with tracking as you will be able to see how many people viewed the additional information.
