Permit expiration dates are communicated to residents in advance through automated notifications. If a permit expires without renewal, a system-driven grace period applies before late fees are added.
How the Grace Period Works
Expiration reminders are sent prior to the permit end date.
A 10-day grace period begins immediately after expiration.
If renewal isn't completed within those 10 days, a 15% late fee is automatically applied.
The grace period is applied consistently across accounts and does not require manual action.
Late Fee Application
Late fees are system-generated once the grace period has passed. Renewal must be completed before the end of the grace period to avoid the additional charge.
State-Specific Sales Tax
For properties in certain states (currently including Florida), state-required sales tax is applied to permit purchases. The applicable tax is calculated and displayed at checkout — residents do not need to add anything themselves.
Configuration & Policy Alignment
Late-fee structure and grace-period timing are established during onboarding and may be tied to your property's agreement. Changes must be coordinated through ParkingPass Support.
Important Notes
The 10-day grace period is automatically applied.
Late fees are added automatically once the grace window closes.
Enforcement vendors rely on active permit status during validation, so a lapsed permit may result in citation, boot, or tow.
Refunds are not offered for unused days or permits that are ended early.
Refund eligibility is limited and governed by the Refund Policy.
Best Practices
Encourage residents to enable automatic recurring payments to avoid lapses — see How Residents Make Payments.
Use the dashboard Lease Status widget to spot expiring leases that may lead to lapsed permits — see Reading Your Dashboard.
Monitor the Action Required badge on dashboard widgets for permits that need attention.
