Revenue Share: A Complete Guide

How the Revenue Share program works — what counts as shareable revenue, how to set up Stripe Connect to receive payouts, and how to navigate the Revenue Share section of the platform.

The Revenue Share program returns a portion of certain ParkingPass-generated revenue back to participating properties. Most commonly this includes income from guest passes, paid public parking, and the Parking Spot Marketplace, but the exact mix depends on your property's configuration and agreement.

This article walks through how the program works, how to set up your property to receive payouts via Stripe Connect, and how to navigate each section of the Revenue Share menu.

How Revenue Share Works

Revenue Share is opt-in and is configured during your property's onboarding (or added later by request). Once enabled:

  • ParkingPass tracks revenue generated from configured sources at your property.

  • A defined share of that revenue is allocated to your property based on your agreement.

  • Payouts are made through Stripe Connect — a payments product Stripe operates to move money to a connected bank account.

  • You can review your projected and earned revenue inside the Revenue Share section of the dashboard at any time.

What Counts as Shareable Revenue

The exact sources depend on your property's agreement, but commonly include:

  • Paid guest pass revenue — when residents or guests pay for guest passes at your property.

  • Paid public parking revenue — from non-residents using Paid Public Parking spaces.

  • Parking Spot Marketplace — from spots rented through Using the Parking Spot Marketplace.

  • Other configured sources — depending on your property's specific agreement.

Resident parking permit fees are typically not part of Revenue Share — those are handled separately under your property's permit pricing structure. See Parking Permit Prices.

Setting Up Stripe Connect (Required to Receive Payouts)

You must have a Stripe Connect account set up before your property can receive Revenue Share payouts. Stripe Connect handles the secure transfer of funds from ParkingPass to your bank account.

To set up Stripe Connect

  1. From the left sidebar, open Revenue ShareStripe Connect Center.

  2. Follow the prompts to begin Stripe's onboarding flow.

  3. Provide the business and banking information Stripe requires (legal name, EIN or SSN, bank routing details, etc.).

  4. Complete identity verification — Stripe may request additional documentation depending on your business type.

  5. Once approved, your Stripe Connect account is linked and payouts will be sent automatically based on your payout schedule.

💡 Tip: The Stripe Connect onboarding is operated by Stripe, not ParkingPass. If you have questions about Stripe's identity verification requirements, refer to Stripe's documentation or contact Stripe support.

Navigating the Revenue Share Section

The Revenue Share menu in your left sidebar contains several sub-pages:

Revenue Center

The main view — see earned revenue, pending payouts, and revenue trends. Use this as your day-to-day Revenue Share dashboard.

Stripe Connect Center

Start or finish Stripe Connect onboarding. Required before payouts can be issued.

Manage Stripe Connects

Review existing Stripe Connect accounts linked to your property. Useful if you manage multiple properties or need to update your banking details.

Revenue Calculator

Project potential revenue based on guest pass pricing, public parking pricing, marketplace listings, and other variables. Use it during planning or when adjusting pricing.

Vendors

Manage vendors associated with your property who may receive a share of revenue or who otherwise interact with the Revenue Share program (for example, a patrol vendor with an agreed-upon revenue split).

How Payouts Work

  • Payouts are issued on a regular schedule (commonly monthly, though this varies by agreement).

  • Funds flow from ParkingPass → Stripe Connect → your property's bank account.

  • You receive a statement summarizing the period's earned revenue and the payout amount.

  • Statements are accessible in the Revenue Center and via the email address on your Stripe Connect account.

  • Stripe transfers typically arrive in your bank account within 2–5 business days of the payout date, depending on your bank.

Reading a Revenue Share Statement

Each statement typically includes:

  • Period covered — the date range the statement reflects.

  • Revenue by source — broken down by guest passes, public parking, marketplace, etc.

  • Total gross revenue — sum of all shareable revenue during the period.

  • ParkingPass share — the portion retained by ParkingPass per your agreement.

  • Your property's share — the amount paid out to your Stripe Connect account.

  • Adjustments — refunds, disputes resolved against the property, or other reductions.

Reviewing your statement monthly is a recommended part of the Property Manager Quick Start: Your Daily Playbook monthly checklist.

Taxes and 1099s

  • Revenue Share payouts are considered income to your property and are reportable for tax purposes.

  • Stripe issues a 1099-K form to your property each year if your payout volume meets the IRS reporting threshold.

  • Tax IDs (EIN or SSN) provided during Stripe Connect onboarding are used for tax reporting.

  • State-specific sales tax collected on transactions is handled separately and is not part of your revenue share — see State Compliance Overview.

  • For tax questions specific to your property, consult a tax professional. ParkingPass is not a tax advisor.

Common Questions

My property isn't enrolled in Revenue Share yet. How do I sign up?

Contact support@parkingpass.com. Your account manager will work with you to review eligibility and configure the program for your property.

How is the revenue split determined?

The split is defined in your property's agreement with ParkingPass. Splits can vary by revenue source and by property type. Check your Revenue Center for the rates that apply to your property, or contact Support for clarification.

Why is my expected payout different from what I see in the Revenue Calculator?

The Revenue Calculator estimates potential revenue based on assumed usage. Actual payouts reflect real transactions, including refunds, disputes, and any adjustments. Differences are normal.

A refunded transaction is reducing my next payout. Is this correct?

Yes. If a transaction is refunded (for example, after a citation dispute is approved), the corresponding revenue share is reversed and reflected in your next statement.

Can I change the bank account for payouts?

Yes — update your banking details inside Stripe Connect Center. Stripe will verify the new account before payouts route to it.

Important Notes

  • Stripe Connect setup is required before any payouts can be issued. Properties that haven't completed setup accrue earned revenue but receive no payouts until verification completes.

  • Revenue Share amounts and splits are tied to your property's agreement. Changes to the agreement must be coordinated with ParkingPass Account Management.

  • Stripe Connect onboarding can require detailed business and identity information. Have your business documents ready before starting.

  • If payouts stop unexpectedly, the most common cause is a verification issue inside Stripe Connect — check the Stripe Connect Center for action items.

  • This article is informational. The authoritative definition of your property's Revenue Share program is your agreement with ParkingPass.

Troubleshooting

I don't see Revenue Share in my sidebar

Your property may not be enrolled. Contact support@parkingpass.com to discuss enrollment.

Stripe Connect setup won't complete

Open the Stripe Connect Center to see what's pending. Stripe usually shows a clear action item (e.g., "Verify business address" or "Upload ID"). Complete the requested step and Stripe will re-check.

My payout didn't arrive on schedule

Check the Revenue Center for the status of the payout. Stripe transfers can take 2–5 business days after the payout date — confirm enough time has passed before assuming an issue. If it's still missing, contact Support.

The numbers in my statement don't match my expectations

Compare against the Revenue Calculator and recent transaction reports in ParkingPass. If you still can't reconcile, contact Support with the statement period and the discrepancy.
