Permission sets give admins precise control over what each user can do in Parspec — going beyond the standard Admin and User roles. With the latest update, permissions are now configured at the tab level, meaning you can independently set View, Edit, and Delete access for each individual area of a project (such as Pricing & Lead Time, Documents, or Project Files). This makes it possible to safely separate what Quoters, Project Managers, and Finance Controllers (etc) can do within the same project.
Navigate to Permissions
Click the gear icon in the bottom left to open Account Settings.
Select User Management from the left navigation.
Click into the Permissions tab.
Create New Permission Set
Click Create Permission Set.
Enter a Permission Set Name.
Tip: Use descriptive names (e.g., "Quoter – View Only Finance", "PM – No Delete") so it's easy to assign the right set when inviting new users.
Configure Tab-Level Access
You'll now see a list of each project tab and area in Parspec. For every tab, you can set three independent access levels:
Access Level | What it allows |
View | Read-only — the user can see content but cannot make any changes. |
Edit | The user can make changes within that tab or area. |
Delete | The user can remove records or content within that tab or area. |
Set each tab to the appropriate combination for the role you're building. Access levels are independent per tab — for example, you can give a Quoter Edit access on Pricing & Lead Time while restricting them to View-only on Project Files.
Example role configurations
Role | Pricing & Lead Time | Documents | Project Files | Admin Settings |
Quoter | View + Edit | View | View | — |
Project Manager | View + Edit + Delete | View + Edit + Delete | View + Edit + Delete | — |
Finance Controller | View | — | View | — |
Read-Only Ops | View | View | View | — |
Save and Assign the Permission Set
To assign it to a user, navigate to the Users tab within User Management.
Find the user, click the three-dot menu next to their name, and select Edit.
Select the permission set from the Permission Set dropdown, then click Save.
Bulk/Mass Update Permission Set
Select the users on the left.
Select the pencil/edit icon
Select the updated permission set
Note: Only admins can create and assign permission sets. Permission sets can be updated at any time — changes apply immediately to all users assigned that set.
