Paua offers two methods for starting a charge: using the mobile app or using the Paua card with the RFID card reader on the chargepoint machine (sometimes labelled as "Membership cards").

To start a charge using the app, first find the chargepoint in the app, select the correct connector for your vehicle, press the "Charge" button, and then plug in your vehicle.

To start a charge using the Paua card, simply tap the card on the RFID card reader on the machine (which may be separate from any credit card reader), and then plug in your vehicle.

Always follow any local instructions or signage when using a chargepoint.

It's important to note that there are many different charge point networks and devices, and they can be either tethered or untethered. In most cases, you'll need to start the charging session through the app or by tapping the card before plugging anything in. When using an AC unit, plug the cable into the charge point socket before connecting it to your vehicle.

The charge point machine will usually display that it's charging, either through information on the screen or a change in light colour (blue is common for a charging event that has started). You can also check your mobile app or car dashboard to see if the charge has started.

If the charge doesn't start, it may be due to issues with the car, poor mobile reception (try using the Paua card as an alternative), or problems with the communication on the chargepoint machine. If this happens, it's best to unplug and try again, slowly working through the steps.
