Updated over a year ago

Neet to transfer Ad Network campaign metrics from your Paved account to an analytics service? Try dynamic URL parameters.

Dynamic parameters allow you to gather essential data such as ad copy/id, ad placement, newsletter name/id, and more.

In this article, you'll learn how to set up URL parameters to track Paved Ad Network campaign clicks and analyze user behavior using your analytics platforms like Google Analytics, Impact.com, and more.

Supported Parameters

URL parameters can help you understand the effectiveness of your campaigns in the Paved Ad Network.

We offer the following URL parameters to place on your ads:

{{ad_copy_id}}
{{placement_id}}
{{subscriber_id}}
{{campaign_id}}
{{campaign_name}}
{{newsletter_id}}
{{newsletter_name}}
{{pvd_cid}}

Note: If you're using impact.com, you can use Shared ID Parameters for tracking.

For example, you could append sharedid={{campaign_id}}-{{publisher_name}} to your URL and use custom sub IDs to tag the data in reports.

Add Parameters to Your Ad Network URL

Let's say you're running an ad network campaign directing people to a landing page on your site, mysite.com/page.

If you want to know which newsletter your page's visitors came from, you'd add newsletter name parameters to your URL, like: mysite.com/page?newsletter={{newsletter_name}}.

Here's how to update an Ad Network URL to include dynamic parameters:

  1. Navigate to the Ad Network page in your Paved account.

  2. Click the name of the campaign you want to work with.

  3. Click Edit Campaign, and navigate to the Creative step of the Ad Builder.

  4. Click the Edit Creative button.

  5. In the Landing Page URL field, add your URL and tracking parameters:

    Note: If you use impact.com, we recommend using

  6. Click the Save changes button.

All set! Now, Paved will pass along data about URL visitors, which you can view in Google Analytics or a similar service.

For example, a landing page visit from the Owler newsletter will look like this:

mysite.com/page?newsletter=owler
