How should multi-sport athletes use Peak Strength?

How to choose the right Training Plan when you play more than one sport.

Written by Ivan Escott

Training for multiple sports across multiple seasons can be tricky. If you want to strength train year-round as a multi-sport athlete, Peak Strength gives you two good options.

Prioritize your primary sport

If you have a primary sport, we recommend training for that one and staying on its plan year-round.

For example, a football linebacker who also wrestles in the winter should stay on the plan for his primary sport. If his goal is to play football in college, he stays on the linebacker plan. Peak Strength builds his strength year-round for both sports while adjusting his training volume around his primary football season.

Staying on one plan keeps your training focused on your biggest goal, while still developing the strength and athleticism that carry over to your other sports.

Universal Athlete Training

If you don't have a clear primary sport, or you'd rather train for all-around athleticism, choose Universal Athlete Training. It provides a balanced weekly mix of strength, explosiveness, speed, and endurance.

To select it, rebuild your training plan, choose "Train for a sport," and select "Universal Athlete Training."

While it isn't built around any single sport, it develops overall athleticism and general physical preparedness that support you across multiple competitive seasons.
