How does branching logic work?

How PerfectMatch quiz answers decide which question comes next — and how to change the branching yourself in the quiz builder.

Written by ZP Support Team

Branching logic determines which question appears next based on a shopper's answer. Each answer option either leads to a follow-up question or ends the quiz and shows a result page. The AI sets up all branching automatically when it generates your quiz — every path is complete from the start.

Changing where an answer leads

  1. Open your quiz in the quiz builder and select the Questions & Results tab.

  2. Click an answer option in the sidebar tree.

  3. In the right panel, use the Next Question dropdown:

    • Pick any question to send shoppers there after this answer.

    • Pick Show Results (Terminal) to end the quiz on this answer and show its result page with product recommendations.

The dropdown only offers questions that won't create a loop — you can't point an answer back to a question earlier in its own path, so shoppers can never go in circles.

Tips

  • The sidebar tree always reflects your current branching, so you can see every path at a glance.

  • When you make an answer terminal, remember to give its result page products — see "How do I assign product recommendations to quiz results?".

  • Different answers can lead to the same follow-up question, which is useful when several choices should converge on one path.
