Performance Leader's Data Utilities area lets you keep employee records up to date in bulk — either by importing a CSV or by syncing from a connected HR system (HRIS). This guide covers both.
Getting started
Open Utilities → Data Utilities from your admin menu
Find the Employee data import and HRIS sync card
Use Launch importer to import a CSV, or Run HRIS Sync to pull from a connected HR system
Importing employee data from a CSV
Click Launch importer to open the Employee Data Importer, a four-step wizard.
Upload File — click Download Sample Template for a CSV with the right columns (Employee ID, First Name, Last Name, Email, Job Title, Role Profile, Department, Location, Supervisor ID, Second Supervisor ID, and any custom attributes such as Client or Sector). Populate it, then drag it in or use Browse Files; a preview of the first rows is shown.
Map Columns — match each CSV column to a field. Auto-Map matches everything if you used the template, and you can choose whether existing employees are matched by Employee ID or Email.
Edit & Validate — review the records; any problems are flagged so you can correct them in the grid before continuing.
Import — check the summary (total, valid, and error rows) and click Import Data to apply the changes.
New Employee IDs create new users; existing IDs update the matching record. The wizard is the same one used for financial data — see Bulk import financial data for a step-by-step walkthrough of the four steps.
Running an HRIS sync
If your firm has connected an HR system, you can pull employee data directly instead of uploading a CSV.
On the Employee data import and HRIS sync card, click Run HRIS Sync
If a connection is configured, the sync pulls the latest employee data from your HR system
If you see No connections configured, click Configure Connections to set one up
Your connection options at a glance
There are broadly three ways to connect your HR system, from most to least integrated:
Direct database connection — we pull employee data straight from your HR system's database (for example, a SQL Server).
API integration — we connect through one of our available API connectors. You can see which are currently supported on the integrations page of our website.
SFTP drop-in — you drop a formatted file into a secure folder on a schedule, and we ingest it automatically.
The best fit depends on your HR system and IT setup. The aim here is just to know your options — your Customer Success Manager can walk you through them and set up the right one for your firm.
Setting up an HRIS connection is usually done with your Customer Success Manager — contact your CX/CSM team to enable it for your firm.
