What is cookie consent?

Cookies are used to store preferences and activities of your funnel visitors. A cookie consent gives your funnel visitor the ability to see which data is stored on your website. Depending on their settings, visitors can actively decide which cookies they allow to be stored.

As part of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), visitors to your funnel must agree to the use of cookies, marketing and analytics tools prior to visiting your website. This is done to ensure data protection and privacy of your website visitors. For legal reasons, you are required to clearly display the cookie consent widget on your website.

In general, you don’t need to activate cookie consent for Perspective funnels. This changes, however, as soon as you activate any sort of integration (e.g. Facebook Pixel).

How do I activate cookie consent?

By default, the advanced cookie banner is activated. You have the opportunity to customize the visual design of your cookie consent:

  1. First, create a new funnel or open one of your existing funnels in the editor.

  2. Then, click on "Settings'' in the upper right corner of the editor.

  3. Here you can turn your cookie banner on and off using the slider, or change the type of your cookie consent widget simply by clicking the "edit" button.

  4. Lastly, publish or update your funnel by clicking on the blue button in the upper right corner

  5. Done! You’ve successfully activated your cookie consent!

What is the difference between Simple and Advanced?

Navigating to your cookie settings, you can choose between 2 different banner solutions. If you plan on using your funnel within the European Union, we recommend the advanced solution:

Advanced: DSGVO compliant cookie management

  • Visitors of your funnel have to make an active decision which cookies they allow to be stored on your website.

  • All active integrations of your funnel are shown in the cookie banner.

  • A detailed overview of your cookie policy can be accessed via the footer of your website.

  • Visitors can adjust cookie settings at any time.

  • Third party integrated media content (e.g. a Youtube video) only loads after your visitor accepts the cookies.

Simple: Compact consent notes without administration

  • Visitors of your funnel are shown a small notice, but they can use your funnel without having to accept cookies.

  • In case they want to, they can access a detailed overview of your cookie policy via the footer of your website.

How can I see which cookies my visitor accepted?

If you head over to the analytics section of your funnel (via the contact profile), you can track which cookies your visitor accepted. Knowing this helps you in case some data wasn’t successfully sent to linked integrations:

  1. Open the live funnel in the editor.

  2. Then, navigate to the analysis section of your funnel.

  3. Switch to the contact list of your funnel and

  4. Click on a contact entry to open the contact profile.

  5. Here you can see a list of all cookies that the respective contact accepted.
