What this is
Map Creator makes a printable field map for aerial operators, drone pilots, contractors, hunters, visitors and farm crews. Select paddocks, draw instructions, save the map, and export a branded PDF (and a shapefile of the paddocks) without giving the recipient access to Phase.

The farm needs mapped paddock boundaries before you can create a field map.
The header is one row: the map's title (or "Map Creator") with a line such as "3 paddocks · 120 ha · 1 annotation" under it, then Details and Export. On a computer, Undo, Redo, Save and an Actions menu sit beside them; on a phone they wrap under the title. Actions holds Saved maps, Clear annotations and Quick walkthrough. The drawing tools are one floating bar on the map, and the tool you're using fills dark olive.
Build the map
Choose Select, then tap every paddock to include.
Add the map title, purpose and general notes.
In Details, switch the compliance reminder, saved farm markers and each paddock's area on the PDF on or off.
For each selected paddock, check the printed area, choose a crop-plan activity where useful, and edit the work line or paddock note.
Add map annotations with Marker, Line and Paint.
Use Erase, Undo or Redo to correct annotations.
The area can be edited to represent the ground actually being treated. Reset it to return to the mapped paddock area. An edited printed area does not change the authoritative paddock boundary in Phase.
Actions → Clear annotations removes the markers, lines and painted areas created in Map Creator. It leaves the paddock selection and text in place. A paddock you tap onto the map shows its name on the map.
Save the map and attach the work
Tap Save to keep the map, paddocks, hazards, notes and all, and open it again later from Actions → Saved maps, where each saved map's ••• menu holds Open and Delete. Until you save, the map you are drawing exists only in this session. You can attach a recommendation or a plan activity to the map, or create one from it, so the job exists in the plan and not only as a caption. An operator briefing (contact, access, livestock, sensitive sites, weather) and a short compliance reminder for aerial, drone, hunter or visitor jobs are available; the reminder is a checklist, not legal advice. On a phone, Details and Export stay beside the title, with Undo, Redo, Save and Actions on the row beneath.
Export or email the PDF
Select Export. You can:
Download PDF to save the field map locally, or Download shapefile for the selected paddocks. In the iPhone and Android apps, both open the phone's save or share sheet, so you can save the file or send it on; before 15 October 2026 they did nothing in the apps.
Under Email it, enter one or more recipients and select Send with PDF attached. Tick Attach shapefile to the email so a drone or plane operator can load the paddocks into the controller; the button then reads Send with PDF and shapefile. The shapefile and PDF keep each paddock's cut-outs (dams, house blocks) as holes, so they don't go to the controller as spray area; maps sent before 9 October 2026 did not.
While it works, the button shows a spinner and the progress (such as "Fetching satellite imagery… 6/12 tiles") is on its own line. An emailed map draws each paddock's full boundary, within half a metre, including paddocks in several pieces.
The PDF includes paddock boundaries and names, selected area information, work lines, notes, a legend, scale bar and Phase branding. It can also include saved farm markers when that option is on.
Check before sharing
Satellite imagery can be incomplete or old, and drawn positions are approximate. Check the scale, paddock boundaries, annotations, treated area, work instructions and sensitive notes before downloading or emailing the map. The exported PDF is a communication aid, not proof of application or a substitute for a machinery prescription.
