How to Set an Alarm in Pillow

Pillow allows you to set a regular alarm to wake you up at a specific time or after a chosen duration.

Set an Alarm by Time

  1. Open Pillow.

  2. Tap the alarm icon at the bottom left corner. (On your Apple Watch, tap the sleep icon found in the same position)

  3. Create a new preset by tapping the "+" symbol or edit an existing preset by tapping the configuration icon at the top right corner.

  4. Select Time.

  5. Choose the exact time you want the alarm to ring.

  6. Save your alarm.

Set an Alarm by Duration

  1. Open Pillow.

  2. Tap the alarm icon at the bottom left corner (On your Apple Watch, tap the sleep icon found in the same position)

  3. Create a new preset by tapping the "+" symbol or edit an existing preset by tapping the configuration icon at the top right corner.

  4. Select Duration.

  5. Choose how many hours you want to sleep.

  6. Save your alarm.

When you start your sleep session, Pillow will ring the alarm according to the option you set.

Create a Recurring Alarm

If you want an alarm to repeat on a schedule, you can create a Scheduled Alarm.

  1. Open Pillow.

  2. Tap the alarm icon at the bottom left corner. (On your Apple Watch, tap the sleep icon found in the same position.)

  3. Tap Scheduled Alarm Preset.

  4. Customize your alarm by selecting the days, time, sound and snooze duration

  5. Tap Done.

  6. Turn on the Active toggle to enable the scheduled alarm.

When using recurring alarms, please note that:

  • Using recurring alarms presets requires iOS 26 or later.

  • Sleep tracking requires an Apple Watch. If you use a recurring alarm preset without wearing an Apple Watch during sleep, Pillow will not record or analyze your sleep.

  • Recurring alarms presets support only basic alarm functionality. Options such as Audio Recordings, Smart Wake Up and Sleep Aid as well as advanced configuration options are not available.

Your scheduled alarm will automatically repeat according to the schedule you selected until you manually turn it off.

Additional Alarm Options

When creating or editing an alarm, you can tap Alarm Options to customize how it works:

  • Alarm sound: Select your preferred wake-up sound.

  • Volume: Choose whether the alarm should fade in gradually or play immediately at the selected maximum volume.

  • iPhone vibrations: Enable or disable vibration on your iPhone.

  • Apple Watch haptics: Have Pillow send gentle vibrations to your Apple Watch, so it taps your wrist to wake you up.

  • Alarm deactivation method: Decide whether to stop the alarm with a long press or by shaking your device.

Which Option Should I Choose?

  • Use time-based alarms if you need to wake up at a fixed hour.

  • Use duration-based alarms if you want to make sure you get enough rest.

Duration presets are especially convenient for naps.

  • Use recurring alarms if you follow a regular sleep schedule and don't want to set an alarm manually every day.
