The Aircraft Types tab is used to add and manage all of the Types used by aircraft in the logbook. It is important that each Type is set up correctly to ensure accurate reporting. LogTen Pro cross-references data associated with each aircraft type to determine many different types of time.
Adding a New Aircraft
To add a new aircraft, click on the Types tab, and then click the + in the lower left-hand corner. You can also manually fill out the Aircraft Type field in a new entry in the Logbook tab. Any new aircraft type entered from the Logbook tab will automatically be added to the Types tab database.
Type Data Fields
You can drag and drop an image above the type data fields where it says "Drop Image Here".
Enter the name of the aircraft type into the Type field. As you begin typing, a pop up will appear offering preloaded types you may select. LogTen Pro comes with a large database of ICAO Type Designators that will auto-complete all the data fields if selected. In the example below, all of the additional fields were automatically filled in after choosing BE9L for a King Air 90.

You are not limited to the ICAO designators. You can use any name for a Type you want. When you use your own Type name you must enter the Type fields manually. At a minimum, we recommend making sure the Category, Engine Type, and Class are entered.
Category, Engine Type, and Class
The Category, Engine Type, and Class must be completed correctly, for accurate reporting.
Category:
Will be used to determine how time is reported in terms of aircraft category in a traditional sense (i.e. Airplane Multi-Engine Land), and also what type of simulator it is, if applicable. It is very important that if the Type is a simulator (or Training Device or PCATD) that it be indicated as such. Please refer to How Should I Log My Simulator/Training Device Time for more information on logging simulator time.
Engine Type:
Used on several different reports. Additionally, keep in mind that all of these fields can be used to create Smart Groups. Jet is often used on aircraft that would be traditionally thought of as Turbo-Fan when using ICAO Type Designators, as this is the nomenclature ICAO uses- not necessarily indicating a pure jet. Turbo-fan and Jet will show up in the Jet column of reports such as the Jeppesen Pro Pilot Log. Turbine is used as a catch-all, and a lot of flexibility is built in for users in different areas of the world. Choose an Engine Type that matches the Type of aircraft you are entering.
Class:
Should be chosen based on the configuration of the aircraft. For example, if you are flying a C172 on floats, you can change this to Single-Engine Sea. The Class determines things such as multi-engine time, so it is important to be filled out correctly. See Logging FAQ's for info on how Class can be used for Smart Groups.
Additional Fields:
Other options can be chosen if applicable and desired.
Hourly Pay Rate = This will be the Flight Rate for an entry in which that Type is used, even if there is an existing Flight Rate set in the Pay section. This could be used if you are paid differently in different Types.
Engine Count = This can be filled out for Smart Group purposes. This does not replace Class.
Default = Check this box to have this aircraft type automatically populate in new logbook entries.
Favorite = Check this box to keep this aircraft at the top of the pop-up list when filling in the Aircraft Type field in a new logbook entry. You can also use this to sort by favorites in the Aircraft Type Tab.
Multi-Pilot =choose this field if this is a type-rated aircraft that requires more than one pilot.
Notes = use this field to record any applicable notes. This will sometimes be filled with additional information if a default ICAO Type Designator was used.
Canard = choose this if the wing configuration is Canard, and you wish to track this kind of information
Composite Airframe = choose this if the type is a composite, and you wish to track this kind of information
Metal Airframe = choose this if the type is of traditional metal construction, and you wish to track this kind of information
Custom = any information about the type can be recorded using 5 Custom text fields. To rename any of the custom fields just click on the title.
Summaries and Search
At the bottom of the screen, you will see a quick summary of the amount of time and flights in the selected type or types. To the right of that is a Search Field that can be used to quickly locate a type.
All logbook entries associated with the Type are listed to the right of the screen.
