How to extend content in a multi-line text or a referenced multi-line text field to new slides
Multi-line Text Syntax
Use the syntax below to accommodate text overflow by extending a multi-line text box to new slides.
{:FIELD_NAME_0_ISHOWN}
{FIELD_NAME_0}
After the first slide is formatted and the syntax complete, duplicate the slide and update the following syntax to the corresponding slide order number. It is important that 0 corresponds to the first slide. Example: FIELD_NAME_0 corresponds to the first slide, FIELD_NAME_1 corresponds to the second slide, FIELD_NAME_2 the third and so on. This syntax pattern will continue until reaching the maximum amount of slides the text will extend to. To accommodate records with fewer characters, only slides with text will be generated when exported. The syntax will not yield blank slides in an export.
Reference Syntax
Use the syntax guidance below to create text overflow by extending a reference to a multi-line text field.
The reference syntax consists of four stacked lines:
Line 1: Open the reference syntax with the table name that includes the referenced field
Line 2: Include the name of the referenced multi-line text field within the table followed by the slide order number and “_ISHOWN}”. Remember 0 corresponds to slide 1
Line 3: Again include the reference to the multi-line text field name and slide number
Line 4: Close the reference syntax
Please Note: This syntax does not support reference multiple field types.
Below please find an example:
{#ATTORNEY}
{:ATTORNEY.BIOGRAPHY_0_ISHOWN}
{BIOGRAPHY_0}
{/ATTORNEY}
ATTORNEY references the Attorney Table where the Biography multi-line text field is stored. BIOGRAPHY references the multi-line text field that will extend, 0 corresponds to the first slide.
Please Note: It is important to remove unnecessary fields in subsequent slides. For example, if using this syntax to create a biography slide, the headshot syntax will only need to be included on the first slide. It will not be necessary for the slides where multi-line text will extend to.
Add Template
The below prompt will appear when adding the character parameters to the template in the Slides app. Populate with the maximum amount of characters (with spaces) allowed per textbox per slide. The slide break will occur on a whole-word basis.
