How to adjust your Proposals syntax when field names are updated
It is important to consider the impact updated field names will have on existing templates. When an existing field name is altered, your Proposals templates will need to be updated accordingly to ensure the syntax properly aligns with the respective field names and proper data is pulled.
As a best practice, follow the steps below to confirm that your syntax and field names match.
Copy and paste the names of the fields you plan to update into a document and save for verification later
After you have updated the desired field name(s) in your table, open the Proposals app from the apps side panel
Click the ellipses to the right of the template name
Click Download template
Open the template in Word and locate the syntax that requires updates
Find each instance of the outdated field name and update the syntax accordingly
Save your template in Word
Open the Proposals app
Click the ellipses to the right of the template name
Click Edit
Replace the existing template with the new version
Click Save Template
PRO TIP: To quickly highlight each field’s syntax: Hold Control/Command+F and type the field name (before it was updated) into the search bar. Reference the previously saved field names file in step 1. Replace any spaces with underscores.
