There are two ways to get your Pitchly data in Power BI Desktop.
Connect to a Workspace and Dataflow configured for your organization in the Power BI website.
Use the custom Pitchly Connector for Power BI Desktop.
Connect to a Workspace and Dataflow.
In Power BI Desktop, click Get data from other sources or click the Get data menu drop-down and click Dataflows.
You may also see the following screen. Select Power Platform and Dataflows and push the Connect button.
Once you select Dataflows, Power BI will retrieve all Workspaces/Dataflows that exist for your organization. Expand the tree presented until you see the Table(s) you are looking for. Select the Tables you want and then click the Load button.
After clicking the load button, you may be presented with the following screen. Check the Ignore Privacy Levels box and click Save. You should then see the Table(s) selected in the right-hand pane of Power BI Desktop, available for your use.
Connect using the Custom Pitchly Connector.
To use the Pitchly Connector in Power BI Desktop, you must first download the connector from https://platform.pitchly.com/powerbi/PitchlyConnector.mez.
Copy your .mez file into the following directory:
[Documents]\Power BI Desktop\Custom Connectors
Note: If these folders do not already exist, you must manually create them.
Tip: Some systems may use [Documents]\Microsoft Power BI Desktop\Custom Connectors instead.
Once the file is in the folder, you must lower the security settings in Power BI Desktop to allow it to run:
Open Power BI Desktop.
Go to File > Options and settings > Options.
On the left pane, select Security.
Under Data Extensions, select (Not Recommended) Allow any extension to load without validation or warning.
Click OK and restart Power BI Desktop.
When Power BI Desktop restarts click Get data from other sources.
Type Pitchly in the text box and you should see the Pitchly (Custom) connector.
Select Pitchly and click the connect button. You will then be asked for your Client Id, Client Secret and Organization Id. You will only be asked for this the first time you connect. Due to restrictions in Power BI, you will enter your Client Id in the first box, ex. appxxxx. In the second box you will enter your Client Secret|Organization Id, ex. plys_xxxxx|orgxxxx.
Then click connect.
Once connected to Pitchly, you will see the following screen. Click the Transform Data button.
Now you will see the following screen which will allow you to select which table in which workspace that you want to bring into Power BI. In the Query Settings dialogue, you can give you query a name. Click in the Data column for the row that shows the table you want to bring into Power BI. You may have to click it twice.
Now you should see the data from the selected table in Power BI and you can use it for your intended purpose. Make sure to save the query before exiting so you don’t have to go through the selection process again.
