If you are facing challenges in connecting your Plaato Keg to WiFi, we have to troubleshoot to narrow down whether the root cause is the hardware (Plaato Keg) or software (Your WiFi Set-up) Here are the steps to take👇🏼

Important

Go through all of the troubleshooting steps below. If the issue persists after, write into us through the messenger app at the bottom right of the page, you can also send an email to support@plaato.io.

In your message, let us know what steps you have taken, the result and attach a video of the state your Plaato Keg and the LEDs are in:

  • When you plug it into power

  • When you attempt to connect to WiFi.

Hotspot Check

Please try connecting with a different WiFi network. We recommend sharing a Hotspot connection from your mobile device.

  • Connect your Keg using Hotspot connection from your mobile phone. If connection is successful, the issue is with your WiFi Setup

WiFi Setup Check

  1. Restart your Wifi router.

  2. Reset your Plaato Keg. Follow the steps here

  3. Make sure your Plaato Keg is powered on and that the LEDs is in Setup-mode

  4. Double-check that the WiFi name and password you entered is correct. The app will not notify you if the these are wrong

  5. Check that your network name or password does not contain the sign "&"

  6. Your network password must not exceed 34 characters

  7. Check that you are connecting to a 2.4 GHz network only. Plaato devices like other IoT devices are designed to work on 2.4Ghz WiFi band only.

  8. Make sure you are not trying to connect to “WPA & WPA2 Enterprise” network (often used in offices), and your shield does not support this security method.

  9. If by chance the WiFi reception in the room you are in is poor, move to another room with better WiFi-reception and try again.

  10. Check through the list of devices on your router to see if the Plaato Keg does not have unrestricted internet access. If it does not, please grant it unrestricted access. The Plaato Keg will have the same number it was labelled with in the set up process "PLAATO-XXXXX"

Hardware Check

  1. Ensure your Plaato Keg is plugged into a power head that provides 5V and 2 Amps power minimum.

  2. Try using a different USB-charger: If the USB is faulty it might not be able to complete connection.

If you are not able to connect your Plaato Keg with a different WiFi connection and you have gone through all the steps above. Write into us through the messenger app at the bottom right of the page or via email to support@plaato.io Please let us know what steps you have taken as listed here
