In this article we will teach you how to get started with PLO Trainer - Classic UI.

Updated this week

PLO Trainer - Quick Start

1. Getting Started - Preflop

This icon represents the default mode when you open the PLO Trainer. It’s where you can browse all available preflop game trees. Use the two dropdown menus on the right to:

  • Choose the preflop profile

  • Choose the stake and stack size

By default, the Trainer loads 6-Max GGPoker PLO50–200 (100bb).

You’ll see a 6-max table with:

  • Each player’s position and stack size

  • The current pot in the middle

  • The active player highlighted in green

Tip: Use the action buttons below the poker table to change the position.

2. Range View

Click the “Eye” icon to see the full range of hands for the current player.

You can filter for specific hands using the filter at the bottom of the range. Click the “i” icon next to it for tips on filter syntax.

3. Categories

The Categories View shows an overview of different hand classes, listed on the left.

  • Click the arrows to expand a category and explore the hands it contains.

  • Use the checkboxes on the right to select a category. Then click the filter icon above the checkboxes to view that specific range in the Range View.

This makes it easy to focus on particular types of hands and see how they play.

4. Train

Click the Train icon to start a training session with the selected range. You can train your full range or a filtered range.

  • The training window will load a single hand at a time, showing the available actions below (e.g., Fold or Pot if you’re first to act).

  • After each hand, your results appear on the right.

  • Train as many hands as you like. To review mistakes, click “Retry mistakes” at the bottom left.

In the results panel, you can switch between Results, Range, or Categories to explore specific hands or hand classes.

To exit training, click the Esc icon next to the Fold button.

Tip: Before you can change positions, you have to exit the training.

5. Getting Started - Postflop

This section is where you can find postflop sims, train postflop spots, study ranges, and explore flops, turns, and rivers.

To get started:

  1. Select a category and game tree.

  2. Example setup for this tutorial:

    • 6-Max → One-on-One (two players go to the flop)

    • 100bb stack size

    • Single Raised Pot → BTN vs BB

  3. Click Apply Selection.

  4. The select a flop window will pop-up.

Use the dropdowns on the left to filter flops by:

  • Texture: any, unpaired, straight, paired

  • Suits: any, rainbow, two-toned, monotone

  • High card: the highest card on the flop

  • Has turns: check flops that have turns and rivers. (indicated by two arrows)

Flops with a turn also have rivers. You can also use the “Has turn” or “Has turn and rivers” checkboxes to quickly filter for precomputed turn and river spots.

You can load a random board to practice unpredictable scenarios and improve decision-making on unfamiliar spots.

6. Load a turn and river

To move from the flop to the turn in the PLO Trainer:

  1. Use the action buttons below the table and choose an action that leads to the turn.

  2. A pop-up window will appear with all available turn cards.

  3. Select any highlighted turn to load it instantly.

From the turn, you can repeat the same process to open a river card.

7. Custom Sims

PLO Trainer lets you import custom ranges and create a custom node using your own sims. This feature is for more advanced players and people who are experienced with MonkerSolver. Click on the link below for a full tutorial on how to use this feature.

8. Skills

Skills is a preflop only, fast training tool that is optimized for a mobile experience. If you are looking to quickly get into a preflop node and train some hands, this is a great tool.

As this is a PLO Trainer quick tutorial, we won't be diving into Skills specifically but it's very easy to learn and use with just a few clicks!

9. New UI

PLO Mastermind now has a fully operational NEW UI for the PLO Trainer, including the Matrix view, Equity Graph, Aggregated Reports and Training Center.

We recommend using the new UI for study and training activities, as all current updates and development are focused here.

The classic UI is still available but should only be used for Custom Sims, which will be added to the new UI in a future update.

Click the icon to switch between the classic and new UI as needed.

10. Other icon

There are a few more icons in PLO Trainer that we'll cover with a simple list:

  • Window - opens a duplicate window/tab with your current settings. This is useful if you're training a spot and want to look up a different range or position without having to exit your current node or training session

  • Pale/Vibrant - This will change the colors of the cards inside PLO Trainer

  • Refresh - This icon is used if you're having issues with PLO Trainer or if you've paid for a subscription but are still seeing nodes that are locked

  • Get Help - This will open a link to join our Discord where our support team or another member can help answer your questions about PLO Trainer

  • Updates - The updates button will load a modal with important information about the most recent updates to PLO Trainer

  • Log out - Ready to call it a day? Use the log out button to quit your session
