What are Strength Buckets in the 4-Card PLO Trainer?

What do the strength buckets and categories mean when using the 4-Card PLO Trainer?

Strength buckets are automated categories that will help you get a better understanding of your entire range. By breaking down the range into smaller parts, it is easier to see and understand how different parts of your range are going to play.

By filtering for individual strength buckets or categories, you can learn about patterns and principles for that specific part of your range. These strength buckets can be trained (preflop and postflop) for as many hands as you would like.

We believe it's extremely important to use the strength buckets and categories in PLO because of the number of combinations of hands that exist. Simply looking at one individual hand combination will not be enough to learn from.

It can be tempting to just plug in your exact hand into a spot and see if you played the hand good or bad - but this doesn't really help improve your game. Taking a look into the specific strength bucket or category for similar hands as a part of your range will help to understand patterns and why certain parts of your range are checking/betting/etc.

Strength buckets and categories can be set as a filter to train which can greatly increase your knowledge in that spot. For example, you want to know what to do in a 3-Bet pot SB vs BU after calling a 3-Bet preflop IP. The flop is K73 with a flush draw, and you often find yourself unsure what to do with all of these middling flush draws.

You can filter for hands with no pair, no straight draw, and just a flush draw - and train this specific part of your range to learn the patterns and improve your game.
