[Troubleshooting] Cellular Modem 2

Real case scenario

A modem is installed, the SIM card is activated, but the modem does not come online.

Troubleshooting steps

  • Check and make sure the modes are powered on.

  • Restart the modem (e.g., breaker reset)

    • Usually, the modem comes online after a few minutes of activating the SIM card, after a power cycle.

    • To activate a SIM card, please ask Plugzio Support Team.

  • Check to make sure the SIM card is inserted in slot 1.

    • The SIM card should be faced down with the slit on the right side.

1- The first SIM in SIM SLOT is SIM1

1- The SIM card is inserted in the first SIM SLOT (SIM1)

  • Check that the 4G antenna is facing up and the 2.4G antenna is facing down (cable side)

    • This is important—based on a real case, correcting this fixed the issue and restored functionality.

  • Connect the laptop to the modem (Connect to LAN Port on power brick)

  • Accessing the modem via a web browser (open this address 192.168.30.1)

  • Logging into the modem. ( Ask for the credentials from Plugzio Support Team)

  • Viewing/checking APN and model config

1-Go to NETWORK --> Interfaces

2 - Click on Edit button for 4g-MOBILE option

3- Click on Primary SIM 1 --> Check the APN

    • Omni SIM: data.apn.name

    • AT&T: atts1.apn.name

  • View/checking WiFi SSID/Password

1- Go to NETWORK --> Wireless

2- Click on "Edit" for SSID:Plugzio-***** network

3- Scroll down to see the SSID. Click on Wireless Security to see the password.

3- Scroll down to see the SSID. Click on Wireless Security to see the password.

4- Click on the * to see the password. You should be able to edit the password (Not Recommended)

  • You can also edit the SSID (Not recommended).

  • Feel free to ask Plugzio Support Team for the Plugzio-*****'s password.

  • Make sure the cloud service is enabled for remote login and the cloud URL:

    • It is usually checked by default.
