How are items selected for the appendix?
Updated over 4 months ago

Appendix items provide supplemental information that can be used in the clinical decision-making and prescribing processes. The selection of content for appendix items comes from insights from our medical team and our readership. The frequency of these additions depends on the need for the information and may be influenced by cultural and legal factors (eg, Veterinary Feed Directive enacted in 2015).

These additional references are intended to provide background on specific concepts (eg, extra-label drug use, drug compounding considerations) and commonly referenced drug-related resources (eg, FDA Center for Veterinary Medicine, adverse drug event reporting) to help users in their professional demands.

Appendix items may or may not be peer-reviewed depending on the nature of the information. For instance, the Important Contact Information page that lists commonly accessed information is not peer-reviewed, but the Blood Products appendix item is.
