The internet reaches people all over the world, so you may have customers who speak different languages.

At the moment, Podia doesn’t offer built-in support for multiple languages. However, there are a few ways you can set up your site to work in more than one language.

Before we start...

The methods we suggest allow you to create pages in different languages, so visitors can choose the language they prefer.

However, some parts of your site won’t be translated.

These include:

  • The customer-facing interface

  • The login button

  • Transactional or automated emails

  • Automated buttons

These areas don’t support multiple languages and will appear in your site’s default language.

Creating a multi-language site

There are a couple of ways to create a multi-language website on Podia.

Using a third-party widget

GTranslate

GTranslate adds a translation box to the top of your site's pages.

You can choose the languages you want to offer, and visitors can select one when they visit your site.

Visit Gtranslate's website, set things up by selecting the languages you want visitors to have access to and any additional settings.

Once you're done, simply install the third-party code on Podia.

Using product categories

Within your products, you can apply categories such as "English Offerings" or "Spanish Offerings," which will create a page for each category.

You can display these categories on your site by adding a Categories page section to the page where you want visitors to choose between your offers.

Using custom pages for each language

Create two main custom pages to house the different languages you want to create ( e.g., a Spanish site and an English site).

  1. Create custom pages for each language and publish your site.

  2. Add a Grid page section to your homepage and link to these 2 different options so visitors can pick the one they want.

FAQs

Does GTranslate also work for the product viewer?

No. Any third-party code added to your Podia account will just apply to your public-facing site pages (including checkout).

Third-party code will not work within the product viewer where customers log in to view and access their products.
