When creating a product, organizing your content into sections can be very helpful.
Sections keep everything structured and make it easier for customers to navigate your product and follow along.
Sections/Modules can be added to digital downloads and online courses.
Adding sections to your products
Here's how to add a new section/module to a download or an online course:
From your home feed, click on your site name and select Admin from the dropdown menu.
From the Admin dashboard, click Products in the sidebar menu.
Click the Edit icon next to the product you'd like to add sections to.
Inside the product editor, click "+ New section" to add a new section to your download/online course.
You can also click the New section button at the top of the product editor if you already have content.
On the new page, enter the details for your section, including its Title and Description.
If you’re adding the section to an online course, you can also configure its Availability settings.
When you're finished, click "Save" to save your new section.
Section availability settings
If you've added a section to an online course, you'll have additional availability options to control how the sections of your online course will be released.
Here are the available options:
Available immediately: The section becomes available as soon as the customer gains access to the course.
Available after a delay: The section becomes available after a set number of days.
The delay begins on the date the customer gains access through a purchase, import, invitation, or another enrollment method.
Available after course progress: The section becomes available after the customer completes all previous lessons and quizzes or a specific lesson or quiz you select.
FAQs
Why are my sections not showing up for customers?
Why are my sections not showing up for customers?
Sections will only be displayed to your customers if you add lessons/files to them.
Empty sections won’t appear for your customers.
To make a section visible, you’ll need to add at least one lesson or file to it. Section descriptions alone do not count as section/module content.
Why can't I set a description for my digital download sections?
Why can't I set a description for my digital download sections?
When you add a section to a digital download, you can give it a title, but not a description.
This is because digital downloads are files meant to be downloaded to a customer's computer or mobile device, not viewed like a web page in a browser.
How can my customers view section descriptions in my courses?
How can my customers view section descriptions in my courses?
Section descriptions are not displayed inside the course curriculum or course viewer. Customers will only see the section title and the option to expand that section to view its lessons and files.
If you've added a description to a section, that content hasn't been lost. Section descriptions appear on the course overview page, but they do not display within the course curriculum itself.
If you'd like customers to see additional information while they're working through the course, consider adding that content directly to a lesson instead. This ensures it will be visible within the course experience.
Why isn't my content showing up inside my course?
Why isn't my content showing up inside my course?
This usually happens when content has been added to a section itself (for example, in the section description) rather than to a lesson inside that section. Sections are organizational containers — they group lessons together, but they aren't designed to display content like videos or files on their own.
To get your content showing up, you'll need to add it to a lesson. Once your content is inside a lesson, it will be visible to customers when they access that section of your course.
